This move was the perfect opportunity for us to upgrade the old store that had been around for over 15 years. On 17 June 2022, the new POPULAR Sunway Carnival Mall outlet opened for business. Boasting a whopping 38% increase in retail space from our previous 8,000-square-foot store, our new 11,000-square-foot outlet is the largest bookstore in Seberang Perai. Sporting a redesigned décor, the new POPULAR Sunway Carnival Mall outlet continues to offer a comprehensive range of products for our customers of all ages, including books, stationery, IT and Gadgets, CD-RAMA and office equipment. To celebrate its opening, POPULAR organised a series of activities from 22 July 2022 to 7 August 2022, including the Buy & Win Contest, a highlight event where customers spending RM50 and above on a single receipt were given the chance to win from a total of 100 prizes, ranging from electronic and stationery products to POPULAR Gift Vouchers. Additionally, customers who purchased two or more books also get to enjoy a 20% discount on their purchases. Our grand opening specials also featured 65 selected products from our entire range of merchandise. “Happy Hour” sessions were held during the weekends for younger customers, which featured special appearances of mascots from famous children’s books like Little Ammar, Ana Muslim and Kokko & May to distribute balloons and mystery gifts. Furthermore, a colouring competition was also organised. It attracted the participation of 50 children aged between five and 12. New POPULAR Card members, as well as members who renewed their membership during the promotion, were given premium gifts as tokens of our appreciation for their continued patronage. Through all these promotions and activities, POPULAR hopes to play a pivotal role in offering a comprehensive range of books and other quality products to our customers in Malaysia. We will also continue to promote the importance of reading among Malaysians to fulfil the lifelong objective of our founder, Mr Chou Sing Chu. whilst those who spent RM150 and above would receive POPULAR’s limited edition stainless steel mug on top of the cash voucher.
