In the blink of an eye, another difficult year of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic is over. Though the pandemic in Taiwan peaked in May 2020, it took almost half a year more for the situation to stabilise. Since COVID-19 first appeared at the end of January 2020, we have learned to co-exist with this strange but aggressive virus over the next 600 days. Like crossing a river by feeling the stones, the entire process has not been easy. The pandemic has changed much, including many things that we have come to take for granted, like the usual commute to work. Now, we have to don face masks when leaving our homes to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Reshaping Our Lives The pandemic has also made marketing a chore. We are required to register before entering the market and scan a QR code every time we make a purchase. There are multiple temperature-taking points at the entrance of our office building, where we are required to record our past travel history and our intended duration of stay in the office in detail before being allowed to get on with our work. These 600 days have been a life- altering experience. They have reshaped our lives and made us cherish what we have. Though the resulting change in work arrangements has seen people working from different places, one thing is for sure: Everyone is going all out for a better future! (Translated by Shawn Pang) 137 popularnews - 31
