2 My Trip in Autumn 秋之旅:广西龙脊梯田 A Popular Guangzhou staff shares her memorable trip to the Longji Rice Terraces in autumn. 广州大众同仁分享秋季梯田游,细写当下感动。 Autumn has always been my favourite season. This fall, I visited Longji Rice Terraces in China’s Guangxi. It was a wonderful and memorable experience. With the azure sky being the perfect backdrop for getting lost in reverie, laying my eyes on the golden layers of the terraced rice fields from afar evoked a sense of nostalgia. After all, terraced farming is believed to be in existence in the Longsheng area from as early as the Qin and Han dynasties almost 2,300 years ago. Thus, making the Longji Rice Terraces, also known as Longsheng Rice Terraces, one of the pioneers in terraced farming in the world. The Breathtaking “Seven Stars Accompanying the Moon” After a 20-minute walk from our inn, we arrived at the Ping'an Terraced Rice Fields. Popularly known as the "Seven Stars Accompanying the Moon", legend has it that these seven hills were deliberately kept behind after the world was formed. From a distance, they look like seven twinkling stars guarding the crooked moon field that represents the dragon's spine. From my view on the observation deck, the terraced rice fields resembled an elderly person in one’s twilight years. However, there was an unmissable sense of subdued vitality and joy in the background. I felt so moved by the scene in front of me that I began snapping away with my mobile phone’s camera, hoping to capture all my emotions into the photographs. As the autumn breeze at dusk brushed past me, I closed my eyes and took several deep breaths, as if wanting to inhale the essence of this place into my body. I felt completely refreshed when I opened my eyes. The setting sun added layers of mesmerising colours on top of the golden terraced rice fields that were gently swaying in the breeze. The view was truly beautiful. 8- 28 p - p o op pu u l la a r r n n e e w w s s 1 1 3 3 7 7 By Feng Hai Yan (Guangzhou) 文:冯海燕(广州)
