POPULAR Malaysia opened its first outlet in Kuala Lumpur in 1984. In 1990, it expanded throughout Peninsular Malaysia and eventually to East Malaysia in 1996. Educational Publishing House Pte Ltd set up its first office in Malaysia in 1998 to publish textbooks and supplementary materials. Moving on, POPULAR Malaysia enjoyed tremendous developments with the opening of its first Mega Store in Damansara, Petaling Jaya in 2003, and HARRIS bookstore in 2006. To date POPULAR Malaysia has in total of 4 mega stores, strategically located in Klang Valley, Penang and Johor Bharu to support the surging customers demand in Malaysia. Today, POPULAR Malaysia is the largest bookstore chain in the country with 75 outlets nationwide.
POPULAR successfully organised the inaugural BookFest@Malaysia in 2006. Today, the annual BookFest has become a major event of the book industries in Malaysia.
